Harga garam rakyat di Kabupaten Sumenep, Jawa Timur kembali naik. Dari sebelumnya Rp 1,5 juta per ton, kini naik mencapai Rp 2 juta per ton.
Menurutnya, cuaca yang kurang mendukung menyebabkan masa produksi garam lebih lama. Dari biasanya seminggu garam sudah bisa diproduksi, namun karena sering mendung membutuhkan waktu 12 hingga 15 hari.
Tiga bulan lalu, pemerintah sempat impor garam karena garam dalam negeri harganya mencapai angka tertinggi. Pada awal panen 2017, harga garam di kabupaten paling timur madura mencapai Rp 2,5 juta per ton.
Berdasarkan data Dinas Perikanan Sumenep, hasil produksi hingga pekan pertama bulan Oktober 2017 mencapai 93.890 ton. Sementara, target produksi garam pada tahun ini sebanyak 125 ribu ton.
Sebab, sambung Arif Rusdi, produksi garam rakyat pada musim kemarau tahun ini sempat terkendala anomali cuaca diawal musim berupa turun hujan. Akibatnya, pada akhir Juli lalu, produksi garam rakyat hanya 850 ton.
“Naiknya harga garam karena sepekan terakhir ini cuaca tidak mendukung. Sering kali mendung meski pun tidak sampai turun hujan,”kata petani asal Desa Karang Anyar, Kecamatan Kalianget, Ach. Syamsuri (30), Kamis 12 Oktober 2017.
“Dengan naiknya garam petani senang. Kami berharap pemerintah tidak lagi mengimpor garam. Sebab, impor garam yang dilakukan pemerintah beberapa waktu lalu, tentu kurang menguntungkan petani garam dalan negeri,”harapnya.
“Pada akhir bulan September baru mencapai 47 ribu ton, tapi hingga pekan pertama di bulan Oktober ini produksi garam rakyat sudah mencapai 93.890 ton lebih,” kata Kepala Dinas Perikanan Sumenep, Arif Rusdi.
“Produksi garam rakyat baru mulai normal pada pertengahan Agustus sehingga hasil produksi pada akhir Agustus bisa mencapai 24 ribu lebih,” tukasnya. (Asm/irwan)
