NUSANTARA, (Transmadura.com) – Empat Atlet Kalbar (Kalimantan Barat) dari Cabang Olahraga Sambo berhasil meraih tiket menuju Pekan Olah Raga Nasional (PON) tahun 2024 mendatang.
Keberhasilan ini tak lepas dari keahlian dan keterampilan yang dimiliki keempat atlet dan dukungan dari Komite Olahraga Nasional Indonesia (KONI) Kalbar, serta Dinas Pemuda Olahraga dan Pariwisata (Disporapar) Kalbar.
Empat atlet terbaik ini meraih tiket ke PON lewat ajang Pra PON yang notabenenya berhasil menyabet perak dan perunggu. Mereka adalah Husni Hairi peraih medali perunggu di Kelas 53, Rio Tirtono peraih medali perak di Kelas 58, Jeremy peraih medali perunggu di Kelas 98 dan Awang di peringkat enam.
Ketua Umum Sambo Kalbar, Nanang Wahyudi, SH mengatakan, empat atlet ini sungguh luar biasa. Karena waktu berlatih mereka untuk ajang Pra PON terbilang singkat, hanya tiga minggu saja.
Sementara idealnya, kata Wahyudi Asal Madura ini, memerlukan waktu enam hingga delapan bulan. “Ini artinya, mereka memiliki skill yang bagus dan kesungguhan untuk mencapai sukses,” ungkapnya.
Hanya dengan tiga minggu saja, menurutnya, mereka bisa berhasil meraih perunggu dan perak, apalagi jika dioptimalkan sampai delapan bulan, saya optimis bisa meraih emas. ” Dan ini akan kita persiapkan untuk PON 2024 mendatang,” kata Yudi sapaan karib Nanang Wahyudi disela-sela kesibukannya, Selasa (31/10/2023).
Pihaknya mengucapkan terimakasih kepada empat atlet yang sudah mengharumkan dunia olahraga Sambo Kalbar. Terlebih ini merupakan capaian prestasi perdana di Cabor Sambo untuk Kalbar yang berhasil diperoleh dalam ajang Pra PON.
Dia juga mengucapkan terimakasih kepada KONI Kalbar dan Kadis Disporapar Kalbar yang senantiasa mendukung atlet dan Cabor Sambo ini hingga berhasil lolos mengikuti PON tahun depan.
Empat tiket dari atlet Sambo ini lanjutnya kami persembahkan untuk KONI dan Pemerintah Provinsi Kalbar (Gubernur atau Penjabat Gubernur dan Dispoapar). Selain merupakan capaian kita bersama yang juga perlu dirasakan pemerintah setempat, prestasi ini pertama kali diraih oleh atlet-atlet cakap dan tangguh.
Harapan Yudi, semoga dengan prestasi baik ini, Pemerintah Provinsi Kalbar mendukung penuh kegiatan atau persiapan timnya untuk berlaga pada PON 2024 mendatang.
“Sia-sia rasanya, kalau kita punya atlet baik beprestasi, tapi tidak didukung penuh oleh pemerintahnya sendiri. Mereka pasti akan merasa tidak dihargai dan akhirnya tidak memiliki semangat juang untuk meraih sukses,” tandas Yudi yang bercita-cita akan membawa atlet Sambo terbaik asal Kalbar hingga ke perhelatan Sea Games.
Salah satu bentuk dukungan pemerintah setempat yang Yudi harapkan adalah menjalin kerjasama dengan Kodam XII Tanjungpura agar berupaya memindahkan posisi tugas salah satu atlet peraih tiket Sambo ke PON, Rio Tirtono.
Rio ini tegasnya merupakan putra daerah kebanggaan, peraih perak pastinya jadi aset Kalbar. Saat ini dia bertugas di Sorong Papua. Akan sangat sulit untuk melakukan latihan menjelang PON. Tetapi jika dia pindah tugas di Pontianak, maka akan memudahkannya untuk berlatih dan harapan untuk meraih emas pun bisa diwujudkan.
“Karena itu, kami sangat berharap kepada pemerintah setempat dan Kodam XII Tanjungpura untuk bisa mengupayakan pemindahan tugas Rio Tirtono ini ke Pontianak. Dengan begitu, dia bisa berlatih seoptimal mungkin untuk mencapai kemenangan,” tutupnya.
