Budaya kerapan sapi di pulau madura terus di galakkan dan tidak akan pernah punah. Sebab tradisi tersebut terus di jaga yang menjadi peninggalan nenek moyang.
Kali ini Pemerintah Kabupaten (Pemkab) Sumenep, Jawa Timur, menggelar kerapan sapi tingkat kabupaten di Lapangan Giling, Desa Pangarangan, Kecamtan Kota Sumenep, Minggu (15/09/2019).
Peserta Lomba kerapan sapi diikuti oleh 36 pasang sapi dari 6 kawedanan di kabupaten unjung timur pulau madura ini yang telah mengikuti tahapan seleksi di setiap kewedanan.
“Setiap kawedanan memiliki 6 wakil, yakni 3 golongan menang dan 3 golongan kalah,” kata Kepala Dinas Pariwisata Kebudayaan Pemuda dan Olahraga, Carto.
Menurut Carto, tujuan lomba itu, untuk membina, dan mengembangkan kerapan sapi sebagai warisan budaya, persiapan Piala Presiden di Bangkalan, serta untuk peringatan hari jadi Kabupaten Sumenep.
“Ini hanya untuk memperkenalkan terhadap masyarakat luar, peninggalan budaya kita ini, dan juga membina persiapan piala presiden nanti,” ungkapnya.
Sehingga, sapi yang bertanding kali ini merupakan sapi lokal Sumenep. “Jadi sesuai aturan, yang bertanding harus sapi Sumenep. Kalau ada yang dari luar, maka di diskualufikasi,” tegasnya.
Berdasarkan informasi yang diterima, kata dia, sudah ada satu pasang sapi yang dilaporkan berasal dari luar Kabupaten Sumenep. “Jadi yang tau tekhnisnya nanti di panitia,” tukasnya.
Dalam sambutannya, Bupati Sumenep, Abuya Busyro Karim, melalui Sekretaris Daerah Kabupaten Sumenep, Edi Rasiady meminta masyarakat untuk memperkenalkan kerapan sapi pada pemuda. “Kenalkan kerapan sapi pada pemuda, untuk tetap melestarikan kerapan sapi ini,” katanya.
Nantinya, enam sapi pemenang, yakni juara 1, 2, dan juara 3 golongan menang, serta juara 1, 2, dan juara 3 golongan kalah akan mewakili Sumenep pada kerapan sapi Piala Presiden yang direncanakan dilakasanakan di Kabupaten Bangkalan beberapa waktu kedepan.
