SUMENEP, (Transmadura.com) – Petani di Desa Pragaan Laok, Kecamatan Pragaan dibantu Babinsa Koramil 0827/09 Pragaan Sertu Rahmat terpaksa memasang jaring di area persawahan yang digarap.
Langkah ini dilakukan untuk mengurangi risiko kegagalan panen karena serangan hama burung emprit.
Sertu Rahmat mengatakan, area sawah yang di tanam seluas 0,5 hektar dan sudah memasuki usia 50 HST.
Dengan mulai muncul bulir-bulir padi tersebut, ia mengakui ada kendala karena petani bisa terancam gagal panen lantaran adanya serangan hama burung emprit. Kawanan burung ini mengincar tanaman padi yang mulai keluar bulirnya.
“Bisa mencapai ribuan ekor emprit yang menyerang. Kalau dibiarkan para petani bisa gagal panen,” katanya, Senin (8/1/2024).
Sertu Rahmat mengungkapkan, untuk antisipasi serangan, pihaknya membantu petani memasang jaring di atas tanaman padi di lahan pertanian yang dimiliki. Pemasangan ini sebagai upaya agar hama burung emprit tidak sampai memakan bulir padi yang mulai tumbuh.
“Jadi kita memasang jaring. Tujuannya, sebagai penghalang agar burung-burung ini tidak memakan bulir padi yang ada,” ungkapnya.
Menurut dia, cara ini sangat efektif karena potensi serangan bisa ditekan. Sertu Rahmat pun berharap agar tanaman padi dapat tumbuh dengan subur sehingga panennya juga dapat dimaksimalkan.
“ Untuk hama yang lain bisa terkendali karena ancaman wereng, keong, kresek relatif terkendali. Sekarang baru musim pertama, mudah-mudahan hasilnya nanti dapat maksimal,” harap Sertu Rahmat.
