Tragedi perahu kayu “Kota Baru” tenggelam di laut yang ditumpangi Santri Ponpes Abu Hurairah terjadi di perairan pulau Sapeken, Madura, Jawa Timur, yang mengakibatkan satu orang meninggal dunia, Kamis (8/3/2018).
Berdasarkan hasil rangkuman Informasi, peristiwa terjadi sekitar jam 14.45 wib, perahu kayu ditumpangi 34 santri itu dari pulau Sapeken hendak berlayar ke Tanjung Keaok, Pulau Sapanjeng, Sumenep untuk Safari dakwah (pengajian). Namun, dalam perjalanan sekatar 2 mil disebelah barat pulau Saredeng besar, tiba-tiba posisi perahu kayu tersebut miring ke arah kiri sebab dihantam ombak besar, sehingga sebagian penumpang terjatuh ke laut.
“Dari 34 penumpang itu, 4 orang Guru pendamping, siswa – siswi MTs 27 orang, 2 orang bayi yang masih 7 bulan, sedangkan 4 orang hilang MAYA PUSPITA DEWI, (16), Kelas I MA Ponpes Abu Hurairah, asal Desa/ Kecamatan Sapeken, Kabupaten Sumenep.
